ABOUT OUR PRESIDENT
Vin Gopal has worked for dozens of elected officials and candidates at the federal, state, county and municipal levels. He started off in politics working as a legislative aide for New Jersey state Assemblymembers Herb Conaway and Jack Conners, later coordinating Conaway's 2004 congressional campaign. He also worked as a campaign manager for the Mayor of Perth Amboy and helped organize municipal races in numerous towns throughout North Jersey. Vin also spent time in Washington D.C. working in Senator Ted Kennedy's press office during 2005-2006. During the 2008 Democratic presidential primaries, Vin served as Deputy National Campaign Manager for Congressman Dennis Kucinich's presidential campaign, organizing millions of dollars of fundraising to push a progressive message of single-payer healthcare, ending the war in Iraq and attaining marriage equality. He served as Finance Director for Kucinich's 2008 congressional re-election, where on the ground in Cleveland, OH, he helped organize millions of dollars of fundraising for Kucinich's successful primary re-election against a machine-backed candidate supported by Cleveland's largest newspaper and the city's mayor. Vin also served as Director of Development for the Progressive Democrats of America PAC where he organized dozens of fundraisers across the country including numerous Hollywood fundraisers. He has served as a fundraising and development consultant for dozens of organizations and candidates and during the 2008 presidential campaign, he served as East Coast Director for Democratic GAIN, helping to organize trainings for Democratic Party staffers. Vin previously served as a senior analyst for Politics1.com, which reached millions of viewers during 2008 & 2009. In February of 2010, he will do a daily report for Daily Political Briefing.
Vin is the co-owner and business manager of The Monitor Newspapers, a
chain of community newspapers in Monmouth County, NJ which reach over
24,000 homes every month. He also owns and operates several small
businesses in Monmouth County. He was elected in 2009 to the Board of
Directors at the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce. He is also a
member of the Eastern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, Atlantic Highlands
Chamber of Commerce and Colts Neck Business Association. In January of 2010, he was elected to serve a 3 year term as President of the Hazlet Business Owners Association. A graduate of Penn State
University, Vin resides in Long Branch, NJ. He is chairman of the Blue Monmouth PAC and is a past West Long Branch Democratic Party Municipal Chairman.
